Bathing your dog at regular intervals is necessary. However, giving it a bath on an exceedingly frequent basis can dry out its skin and coat and result in skin infections. The best bet would be to bathe your dog once in a month. In case it gets too dirty in-between, rub it with a damp towel or wash just the paws.
While bathing the dog frequently is not advisable, you should definitely groom it on a daily basis. Always reward your cat for desired behavior. This motivates the pet to repeat the positive things time and again and helps you to create a strong bond with it.

All pets, even small ones, require day to day care. You'll need to monitor their food and water intake. Even if your rodents don't empty the water bottle, change the water every few days. You wouldn't want to drink stagnant water, and your rodents feel the same way. You'll also need to make sure that they have enough food. Remember that a lot of small animals shell their food, so you may think that there is food in the bowl, when it is only the shells of the food already eaten. Small animals also need their bedding changed at least every week, sometimes more if you notice an odour. Find out how large your lizard will get as an adult. Those cute little hatchling iguanas grow into 5-6 foot lizards that need a lot of space and a lot of care.
This is where your knowledge of species really comes into play, especially with respect to knowing the maximum adult size reached by your reptile. For those species that are tree dwellers (arboreal species) height is a really important factor, for land dwellers (terrestrial species); floor space is the one to watch.
Essentially, the enclosure that you provide should be as large as possible; allowing for space and cash availability. The minimum size should allow your reptile to stretch lengthways and turn without touching the sides of the enclosure. With respect to snakes, the diagonal of the enclosure should be about the length of the snake. Some species have a mixture of requirements.
The cage should be resistant to liquids, easy to clean and easy to view the inside so that you can check the inhabitant regularly, and easily, without causing unnecessary disturbance. Security is essential as many reptiles, especially snakes, are excellent escape artists. This can be achieved by having easy and uncomplicated entry into the cage, with a secure lid (think about investing in a lock!).
Adequate airflow should also be considered in a closed system.
